Bellagio:
9 yr old Oldenburg Gelding
I met Bellagio in 2006. He was a young boy then…just five yrs old. Bellagio was hands down the finest bred equine ever given to the ranch. His natural elegance mixed with his powerful physique was a jaw dropping combination. However, something was very wrong with his mind. Bellagio was rescued originally and donated to us by two amazing horse woman. Both facing life changes, they decided to find a permanent home for Bellagio…where he could continue to be trained, flourish and find purpose. They both knew Bellagio had special needs. He was skittish, fearful, unconfident and had tremendous riding anxiety. After his arrival in 2006, Bellagio was pastured for many months because I wasn’t sure what to do with him. I had never met a more fearful animal, I knew If I started him wrong I would make him into a dangerous animal. So I prayed. God in all His wisdom brought me a mentor to teach me to train Bellagio. This began quite a journey in my horsemanship. Ever session I spent working with Bellagio the Lord showed me more about myself. I began to see how much I was like this animal. Naturally fearful, untrusting, anxious…I was so convicted. As the Lord taught me to teach him…I had to learn to die to all my own “natural” emotions and instincts in order to inspire confidence in him.Bellagio has come so far! Restarted under saddle in 2007 he has ridden all over California…from the Gold Country foothills to the Sierra Mountains…even the Pacific Ocean! He is confident and trusting, intelligent and strong. He has my heart.Bellagio also gained his purpose serving at A Ranch of Light. He is our official “Round pen Redemption” star! Bellagio assists me in many outreach demonstrations and has performed for groups of hundreds! A Ranch of Light would not be the same with out our Big handsome boy! | ||||||
