Hands down one of the top lesson horses ever at A Ranch of Light!
Tassy was gifted to the the ranch in 2006. she is a darling "mature" Arabian mare...who has given hundreds of children rides.
In 2008, Tassy battled some unsoundness and it became evident that Tassy's days as a full time school horse were over and it was time to retire her as a pleasure/light use horse. At the time we had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome Tassy, as we had a "3 horse limit" in place in our rental agreement and needed to honor that requirement.
Tassy was not just a lesson horse...she was my daughter Dailynn's first love. Dailynn began riding Tassy when she was 5 yrs old...and the two were inseparable. So it was through bitter tears that we found Tassy a kind new home and said goodbye to this precious equine family member.
After Tassy left, we had endless frustration and heartbreak as we endeavored in our pursuit to find another “Tassy” for the ranch. All the while, my daughter Dailynn…lost more and more confidence each day. I had so much angst as a mama over making that decision…I felt like I gave away a piece of my daughter’s heart.
Just a couple weeks ago, in March of 2010. I stumbled across a very simple ad on Craigslist advertising a gentle older mare. Without specifying breed, age or name…I read the add…and I was struck…I could hear the Lord say, “It’s Tassy””….I emailed immediately…and was dumbstruck the next morning when an email came back verifying it was our sweet old Tassy horse needing a new home!
In timing only God could arrange…we set up pick up and brought Tassy back home to surprise Dailynn for her 10th birthday.
And surprised she was…God brought so much healing to her little heart. Tassy and Dailynn are again an inseparable team! Watch as she realizes her horse Tassy has come home to stay….
UPDATE: I recently located Tassy's Arabian Registration info and found out our little mare is not 22 like we thought...but a beautiful 27! What a precious member she is to our ranch!
